UNESCO's International Programme for the Development of Communication (IPDC) for the year 2008 was aimed at supporting the first ten Community Radio Stations to be set up in India. The idea was to extend support in specific areas of technology choices, maintenance and technical training at the community level with a view to the development of the community radio movement and industry in India.

One of the primary objectives of the IPDC project was to encourage and promote low cost technology options for groups interested in setting up community radio stations.

Nomad India Network became the technology partner offering affordable equipment and in depth technical training to the first few Community Radio stations in the country. In the last one year we have worked with communities in different parts of the country, demystifying technology, setting up transmitters and climbing towers to install  antennas.
