We believe that phone ins in a community radio is absolutely a must. How can there be a community participation if you cant put them on air live ? Many community radio stations around the world in fact have developed very interesting programming concept with phone ins and studio guests.

In India when we started looking around for a suitable equipment to use as telephone hybrid for community radio station we in fact found none that suits the requirement or budget. Most telephone hybrid available in the international market are very expensive and a few cheaper ones do not support a mobile phone on the recieving end.

At Nomad laboratory we have developped a very simple interface between studio console and PSTN telephone and also commonly available mobile phones. The concept and the technology is ready and vigoursly tested. Now we are building a body around it. Soon we will launch it for community radio stations in India.
