A few years ago Nomad started as a group of communication technology enthusiasts, who were driven by the idea of democratising ICT.  After an eventful journey, we have emerged as the only body in non-governmental private sector manufacturering transmission system for community radio stations. Last year alone we have put more than half a dozen of community radio stations on air and many more are in the pipeline.  See the list of our projects.
 
Nomad India collaborates with Aareff PDF Print E-mail
Nomad India Network has entered into a technology and marketing  collaboration with internationally renowned Aareff Transmission Systems, formally known as Veronica.

The collaboration is aimed at making a widest range of transmission equipment available in India and Bangladesh where communities are waking up to having their own radio stations. Aareff, a  Spain based company is known for its world class, rugged and affordable equipment for low powered radio transmission. Aareff, originally branded as Veronica, is known to be a  benchmark of global standard in low powered transmission systems.

Radio Bundelkhand 90.4 Mhz went on air on October 23rd following a fucntion that highlighted rich musical tradtion of Bundelkhand. The CRS is airing local programmes four hours a day.

 
Kumaon Vani PDF Print E-mail
With a view of the picturesque snow capped Trishul mountain range, the Nomad India team set up a 30 metre high tower at Kumaon Vani in Supi, Uttarakhand. The 30 metre tower is soon to host a stack dipole antenna that will broadcast Kumaoni programmes to the villages in the valley below. Kumaon Vani, a Community Radio Station of The Energy Resources Institute (TERI) is likely to go on air in July 2009. Besides the tower, the Nomad team has also set up the studio and provided the transmission system for broadcast.
 
Sangham Radio PDF Print E-mail

Sangham Radio, an all women community radio station in Machnoor village in Southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh went on air at 11 am on October 15 with the Nomad transmission system.

When former Justice of Supreme Court Justice P B Sawant, switched on the Nomad transmitter the voice of the DDS women went out on air when they sang : Akka Chellenlu Podaame mana sanghamku maatlada podaamey… [Come sisters let us go to our Sanghm to talk]
